Edin Dzeko returns to the starting XI for Roma, but not as captain, with Pedro and Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the Europa League trip to Sporting Braga.

This is the first leg in the Europa League Round of 32 and a very special game for Paulo Fonseca, as the Portuguese coach won the Portuguese Cup with Braga in 2015-16.

His row with Dzeko still hasn’t blown over, so while the Bosnian is back in the starting XI, it’s only in the Europa League and he won’t be given the captain’s armband.

Dzeko is supported by Mkhitaryan and Pedro, while Amadou Diawara allows Gonzalo Villar to rest.

Chris Smalling and Marash Kumbulla are out, with Roger Ibanez starting despite not being 100 per cent fit.

Braga are weakened going into this game, as they have to do without injured Andre Castro, David Carmo, Francisco Moura and Iuri Medeiros.

Among the names to watch there’s also Lucas Piazon, who is on loan from Chelsea, and veteran Nico Gaitan from Lille.

Former Inter and Napoli defender Rolando is still going strong at the age of 35.
