In addition to Barzagli, Martin Caceres has been ruled-out for the rest of the season, and it’s not clear if Giorgio Chiellini will recover from his own calf problem in time for the match.
With Leonardo Bonucci and Alex Sandro suspended for the Empoli match, Allegri is left with Daniele Rugani and Patrice Evra as his only recognised defensive options should Lichtsteiner, Barzagli and Chiellini miss out.
