CONMEBOL confirms the second leg of the Copa Libertadores final won’t be played in Argentina, with Genoa offering to host the match.
The match between River Plate and Boca Juniors at El Monumental was postponed on Saturday, after the visitors’ bus was attacked with projectiles and tear gas.
Both clubs have historic links to the city of Genoa, as Boca were founded by Genoese immigrants, as was one of the clubs which merged to form River.

Today CONMEBOL has announced that the game will be played on either December 8 or 9, and it won’t be in Argentina.
It’s possible the game will be played elsewhere in South America, or in Doha or Miami, but yesterday Genoa’s council offered to host the game.
Genoa are at home to Spal on that Sunday though, so it’s not clear if the Luigi Ferraris would actually be available.
