French newspaper L’Equipe is confident that Milan will get both Renato Sanches and Sven Botman from Lille, despite Newcastle United offering more for the defender.

The Rossoneri seem to have no more competition when it comes to Portugal international midfielder Sanches, who is expected to make the transfer for circa €18m.

Negotiations also continue between Milan and Lille for centre-back Botman and the situation here is a little less clear.

English sources and Sky Sport Italia all confirm that Newcastle United are ready to offer as much as €40m for the Dutch defender.

However, L’Equipe and Tuttomercatoweb continue to insist that Botman would prefer to join Milan and is holding out for the Serie A title holders.

Summer of the Centre-Back: Koulibaly, Botman, Bremer, Skriniar, Bastoni wanted men

That is partly because they are in the Champions League, but also he considers them more ambitious and prestigious than the Premier League side.

Ultimately, Milan will not reach €40m for Botman and can instead go for Gleison Bremer from Torino for €25m, although he seems to be closer to Inter.

It will depend on whether Lille are prepared to accept a lower transfer fee or if Botman gives up on his Milan dream and accepts Newcastle.

  1. Maldini and whoever is in charge should rewind and see how loyal and supportive the fans have been all over the world in the run up to the Scudetto.

They sacrificed their money , energy and time.

You can’t give these people money, but all you can do to pay them back is to build a formidable team so that they can dream again next season.

We are short of 4-5 quality players in order tobe competitive on all fronts next season, and we have been talking about these 2 players for months and still nothing happens.

We have players who want to join Milan, is the club that is not moving, we are Italian champion and no club will give us their star players on the cheap, when other clubs are ready to pay more, the owner need to make more effort, we need to get sorted before the rally on july 4th.

If you are bold enough to buy a club like Milan, you should know what is expected of you INVEST.

  2. Ralph, Your thought my thought as well. Wondering why is taking eternity to close this deal. We have been on this since December last year

  3. Pls Maldini should sign sanches and Botman to enable other players to renew their contract that is what they are waiting to see, they are tired of playing with inexperienced players that’s why some are leaving for other stronger teams

  4. Maldini et al have over the last 2 seasons executed a prefect strategy of signing the right players at the right time, at the right price. Yes we do need 4/5 new players, but everyone just chill. Its June. Lets see where we are come mid August before we run about like headless chickens. Enjoy the silly season of summer links to every player imaginable and then we can look forward to another Scudetto challenge come September.

  5. @ Ralph How about you reward the players who won us the title by not constantly looking for replacements?

We’re in the silly season, the time of the year that the media and fans seem to prefer to actual football.

We need one or two top players, mainly a CM, AM and RW, but be clear every player we sign will push out one of one heroes from this season. There is no club without the players.

  6. Transfer window is long and there are always opportunities in the last days of the market. I agree that these two signings should’ve been sorted by now though, and I think I they are, but everything’s been on hold waiting for the takeover to settle.

  7. Is this the place to post the outlandish, nonsensical, over the top comments then?

Two days ago I loved the new owners but because I’m a fickle football fan and my patience extends to about 5 minutes we should murder Redbird and stick their heads on spikes in front of the duomo if they don’t sign the players we want.

  8. This has been rumored since before the last campaign even started. Please wake me up when something actually happens.

Last transfer window, Milan were “linked” to so many player and yet they basically walked away with Marko Lazetic and nothing else. Yacine Adli for a time in the future.

Don’t get me wrong–I’m very confident in Milan and the direction they’re heading under Maldini’s leadership. It’s just, these rumors are exhausting. I will believe them they actually have pen to paper.
