Inter boss Leonardo is confident that his side can eliminate Bayern Munich from the Champions League on Tuesday.

Although 1-0 down from the first leg, the Brazilian is hopeful that his outfit can triumph in Germany this week and reach the last eight.

"I'm optimistic because I know the strength and spirit of this group of Inter players," the former Milan midfielder and Coach noted.

"The first leg could have ended with a different result, therefore there would be no surprise if Inter won.

"Bayern, of course, just need a 0-0 but the game won't end that way.

"How will we play? You always have to look at how a game plays out. Bayern have played in the same way and with the same players recently. But we are ready and optimistic."

Former Bayern stopper Lucio is a doubt and Leonardo was giving little away with regard to his recovery.

"We'll evaluate the players, both on a physical and mental level, between now and tomorrow," he stated. "In the Champions League what matters is right now along with all the particulars."

If Inter are to progress then it is likely that they'll need Samuel Eto'o to deliver in a season where Diego Milito has struggled for fitness, form and goals.

"Eto'o is a very special player, he's won the Champions League twice and has been playing consistently for years now," Leonardo added.

"He is definitely one of the best players in the world right now.

"No team will have a clear advantage tomorrow and we have a clear strategy. We know we have to be in great shape.

"It is a privilege for my players to play in games like this. These are matches that have the feel of a Final about them.

"We're not promising anything and not thinking about failure, we'll just play with optimism and that's it."
