The former Liverpool man joined the Biancocelesti in 2017 as a replacement for Lucas Biglia, who left to join Milan, and has made 33 appearances in all competitions this season.
Lazio are four points behind fourth-placed Atalanta, whom they host at the Stadio Olimpico this Sunday, and a win in that game could reignite their Champions League qualification hopes.
The Orobici are also their opponents in this year’s Coppa Italia Final and the midfielder stated that his team wants to win both games.
“We have a great desire to win the Coppa, but we are focused on this weekend’s match. It will be an important result for us, at the minute we are not even in the Europa League positions.
“Our goal is to get into the top four, as playing in the Champions League with Lazio would be a dream come true."
