Ranieri sensationally led Leicester to the Premier League title last year, before being sacked just nine months later due to a poor run of results, while his new team are facing competition from the likes of Neymar and Dani Alves this season.

“Nantes? It’s a tough experience, our objective is staying up. We have a problem with scoring goals, even though now we’re in still waters,” he continued to Radio 1.

“But we have to improve. I was very well received by both the Press and fans. They might be expecting another miracle! Therefore, I must work hard and have a pinch of luck.

“I came here to challenge myself, and the French League stimulates me. After my adventure at Leicester City, I wanted to return to France.

“PSG? With their big signings, there’s more attention, the stadiums fill up and this is a good thing.

“The money you invest doesn’t give you certainty of winning things, but it keeps you at a high level.

“Monopoly? There’s a risk of that happening and Ligue 1 could lose interest in the long run.

“Leicester? It was a one-off. It’s great to be able to dream. I also remember the stories I had with Verona and Cagliari.

“It was an exciting year, we were full of euphoria. My sacking? It’s like when you have an accident and you don’t remember what happened.

“I have my own philosophy: I’m always positive. I thank God for winning one of the most difficult Leagues in the world. It’s all good.”
