Sky Sport Italia claim Leicester City have rejected the latest €35m offer for Riyad Mahrez, so Roma might look elsewhere.

The Algeria international was Monchi’s number one target to replace Mohamed Salah, but the price-tag is proving difficult to overcome.

While the Giallorossi already had two formal proposals turned down, they hoped that the third at €35m (£31.6m) would be enough.

The Algeria international was Monchi’s number one target to replace Mohamed Salah, but the price-tag is proving difficult to overcome.

While the Giallorossi already had two formal proposals turned down, they hoped that the third at €35m (£31.6m) would be enough.

However, Sky Sport Italia claim this evening that Leicester replied it was still not enough.

The asking price remains firm at €40m (£36.1m) and Roma consider that too steep.

Now it’s likely they will look towards other targets, such as Real Madrid’s Lucas Vazquez or even Juan Cuadrado at Juventus.

Mahrez had publicly urged Leicester to accept an offer and let him speak to Roma.
