A Leicester City fan celebrating their equalise against Roma was seen wearing a Lazio shirt yesterday.

Fans often look for ways to upset or provoke their opponents in electric European clashes and yesterday’s Europa Conference League semi-final between Leicester and Roma was no different. After Gianluca Mancini’s 67th minute own goal, the broadcast cut to the jubilant home crowd. In the midst of the celebrations, a fan was seen wearing Lazio’s recognisable Eagle home shirt.

Amusingly, a similar scene was seen during Feyenoord’s Conference League semi-final clash against Olympique Marseille, when a home fan taunted the travelling Frenchman whilst wearing a piece of Paris Saint-Germain merchandise.

Considering the inherently tribal nature of football, this gesture is one of the more harmless and amusing ways to provoke the travelling fans.

The first leg of the semi-finals between Leicester and Roma ended 1-1, setting up an exciting second leg at the Stadio Olimpico next week.

  1. It’s not quite as harmless as you think. If he travels & is spotted they will get him

  2. Considering the manager who won them the EPL trophy is a Romanista, this guy just got no respect for his own team.
