According to Sportitalia, Leicester City have offered Dennis Praet plus €28m in exchange for Torino defender Perr Schuurs.
It would be a remarkable deal, especially considering Toro have been pursuing Praet for months, the player too eager to return to Serie A after his loan spell in Turin in 2021-22.
Schuurs is a 23-year-old centre-back from the Fortuna Sittard and Ajax academies who only joined Torino in the summer of 2022 for €9.3m plus add-ons.
The Dutch international impressed in his debut Serie A season with 15 appearances so far between Serie A and the Coppa Italia, and he played in today’s 2-2 draw away to Empoli.
It would represent a major boost to the club coffers and, if confirmed, it’s likely Torino will accept the terms of this offer.
Because he has already played for Ajax in the Eredivisie this season, it means he could not represent a third club until next term, so this would be ‘booking’ Schuurs in advance.
Schuurs had been compared to Matthijs de Ligt earlier in his career, but stalled somewhat at Ajax and wanted to get more regular playing time at Torino to prove his worth.
