The Premier League side confirmed seven players and three members of staff tested positive for COVID-19 and did not travel to Naples for the match, but did not name them.

Inevitably, this raised an alarm with the local authorities in Naples, who tried to perform swabs on the travelling party to ensure COVID was not present in there too.

However, Sky Sport Italia report that Leicester refused to take the tests with the ASL Napoli 1 local health authority.

A statement from the ASL Napoli 1 confirmed they had ‘invited’ the Leicester party to have antigen tests and the club medic was “evaluating whether to” accept, or if the tests done in England before travelling yesterday were sufficient.

Now Calciomercato.com claim that Leicester finally agreed just hours before the game, having both lateral flow and PCR/Antigen tests at the Hotel Vesuvio.

It is the second major COVID outbreak in an English club, as Tottenham Hotspur’s Europa Conference League game with Rennes was postponed due to eight players and five members of staff testing positive.
