Andriy Shevchenko paid a special visit to the Milan training ground today, meeting with former teammate Paolo Maldini and current players Theo Hernandez and Olivier Giroud.

The Ukrainian had the best years of his career at San Siro from 1999 to 2006, returning on loan in 2008-09 after a difficult spell adjusting to Chelsea.

He won the Champions League, Serie A title, Ballon d’Or and scored 175 goals in 322 competitive games for the Rossoneri.

Sheva visited the Milanello ground where he spoke with directors Maldini and Ricky Massara, coach Stefano Pioli and the squad.

According to MilanNews.it, Giroud was positively star-struck to meet his hero and looked giddy when getting to chat to Shevchenko.

Fans took the opportunity on Instagram and Twitter to joke that the 46-year-old still looks in good shape and should get his boots on, perhaps providing more of a goal-scoring threat than current strikers Divock Origi and Ante Rebic.

After all, he is only five years older than Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
