Gianluigi Buffon has officially announced his retirement with a video covering his 28-year career, as he hangs up his gloves at the age of 45. ‘That’s all folks!’
There had already been reports over the last 48 hours that Buffon had decided to call it a day, despite the fact his contract with Parma runs to June 2024.
“That’s all folks! You gave me everything. I gave you everything. We did it together.”
He made his debut in Serie A at the age of 18 for Parma, went on to win the Scudetto with Juventus, Ligue 1 at PSG, then returned to Juve and came full circle at Parma in Serie B.
Buffon was a key figure in Italy’s 2006 World Cup triumph and is widely considered to be the best goalkeeper in the history of the sport.
