Lega Serie A President Paolo Dal Pino showed he could well play a role on the field as well as off it, chasing down and catching a thief who had stolen his wife’s bag. ‘Fortunately, I keep up my training.’
The Corriere della Sera reports that Dal Pino was at dinner at the Ginger restaurant in central Rome on Friday evening when someone took his wife’s bag from under the table and ran away.
Dal Pino gave chase down the Roman streets, which are full of tables from various other cafes and restaurants, leading to the famous steps at San Sebastianello.
“Fortunately, I can run, as I keep up my training,” the 49-year-old Lega Serie A chief told reporters.
The suspect was arrested after eventually running into armed police who were stationed nearby, but had managed to give the bag to an accomplice during the chase, so Dal Pino’s wife did not get her bag returned.
Dal Pino has been President of the Lega Serie A since January 2020 and was formerly the CEO of Telit Communication.
