The Lega Serie A assembly was an utter shambles, as it’s reported that after Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis had reached 45 minutes of criticism, seven clubs walked out with no decisions made.

This was meant to be a productive meeting of the 20 Serie A clubs, who were meant to vote on reforms and the appointment of a new Lega Serie A counsellor.

However, according to numerous reports, the meeting barely even got started almost an hour late when seven clubs walked out.

They were Milan, Juventus, Roma, Napoli, Inter, Fiorentina and Monza, who met in the car park outside.

Torino had not sent a representative to the meeting.

With only 12 clubs present, any vote taken will probably not be considered valid.

The delay to the start was because Napoli President De Laurentiis reportedly spent 45 minutes criticising the entire Serie A system, the division of powers and especially the new Government aid allowing clubs in financial trouble to spread the payment of taxes over a period of several years.

Fiorentina patron Rocco Commisso was also furious at this idea, as these are two of the only clubs not running at a loss.

The plan was put forward largely by Lazio President Claudio Lotito, which is where the deep divide within the Lega Serie A sits.

It’s suggested that De Laurentiis walked out, and while some joined him in protest, others simply got ‘fed up of waiting’ for the meeting to start.
