Lega Serie A: ‘Constructive dialogue’

Lega Serie A President Paolo Dal Pino has sent an open letter to Minister for Sport Vincenzo Spadafora urging them to continue ‘constructive dialogue.’

The situation is increasingly tense, as Spadafora again warned the Government is prepared to “take on the responsibility” of shutting the 2019-20 season down unless a new medical protocol can be agreed.

The previous version was considered ‘insufficient’ by the Government’s scientific committee, even though it is stricter than the Premier League and La Liga approaches.

“I very much appreciate the words of Minister Spadafora this morning and his appeal,” wrote Lega Serie A President Dal Pino.

“The Lega Serie A has always and always will be eager to engage in constructive dialogue, in the certainty that the work of the Minister for Sport and ours cannot help but be aimed at a common good.

“This is a terrible time for the country and the world, so we can only emerge from it if we stay united. As with all Italians, we want to get back to work and experiencing regular life as soon as possible.

“It’s only natural that the Lega Serie A wants to resume playing football, it would be unnatural to suggest otherwise. Anyone with a profession will always want to continue doing it.

“If it’s possible to do so while respecting the norms and medical protocols, good. Otherwise we will rigorously follow, as we always have done, the decisions of the Government.

“The Minister can be certain of our constructive and collaborative spirit and that my unity with FIGC President Gabriele Gravina is absolute.”
