The Lega Serie A urged all clubs not competing in European competition to suspend training for seven days amid the Coronavirus pandemic, appealing to UEFA for a total shutdown on football.
All Italian sporting events have been shuttered until at least April 3, as the virus continues to spread rapidly throughout the country.
Over the last 19 days there have been a total 827 deaths, including 196 over the last 24 hours alone, with 1,028 in intensive care and over 12,000 now testing positive.

Many clubs have already suspended training for the next week, seeing as there are no games, but a statement from the Lega Serie A this evening formally urged all teams follow suit.
The latest note also included an appeal for UEFA and FIFA to “put the priority on safeguarding the health of professional players, albeit respecting the sporting requirements.”
Several Europa League and Champions League ties are being played behind closed doors, while Sevilla-Roma and Inter-Getafe set for Thursday were postponed.
The Coronavirus has now been declared a global pandemic by the World Health Organization, with cases expected to rise rapidly throughout Europe.
UEFA continue to insist there is no need to postpone any of their tournaments, including this summer’s Euro 2020.
