Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United have identified Weston McKennie as a top target for next month’s transfer window.

The Premier League side currently sit 16th in the table and are keen to reinforce their midfield ahead of a possible relegation battle in the second half of the season.

As reported by British tabloid The Sun, the 23-year-old McKennie is one of their top targets for the January transfer window, but the English side face an uphill battle.

The American midfielder, who is contracted to Juventus until 2025, is not ready to give up yet in Turin and wants to fight for his place in Massimiliano Allegri’s squad.

Bielsa is a fan of McKennie’s technical characteristics and believes that he could be a strong replacement for Kalvin Phillips, who is wanted by Liverpool and Manchester United.

The 23-year-old American has made 17 appearances across the league and Champions League so far this campaign for the Bianconeri, but has struggled to convince Allegri of his qualities.

10 thought on “Leeds want Juventus midfielder McKennie in January transfer window”
  1. So he struggled to convince Allegri of his qualities, but when he’s fit he almost always starts. Doesn’t really makes sense, does it?

  2. @Zambrotta he starts because we have no one else, not b/c he is great quality

Nothing against McKennie but like most of our midfield, except Locatelli, they are all just average players at best.

  3. The price I saw quoted on the BBC was 20 million.
    A> That is ridiculously low
B> McKennie is one of the few Juve midfielders who actually tries hard. Selling him sounds really stupid.
C> Why would McKennie swap Champions League last 16 for a relegation battle???

  4. Of corse, more PL nonsense from this site. He will swap Juve for relegation Fodder. Again stop this I’m just surprised you have t said spurs although this is there level of player

  5. If Allegri sells him it will just solidify how clueless he is. He’s young, brings pace and power and his technique will continue to improve under the right coach/team.

  6. McKennie is a decent player, runs, gets you the odd goal here and there but he is not top level, particularly in the mental aspect. I would sell him but knowing Juventus it is just to raise money for say Vlahovic and the midfield will be gutted even further.

  7. Sell sell sell! Good physically. Poor technically. Locatelli and Bentancur should be our starting two. Cash in on this guy, Ramsey and Sandro.
