This proposal can then start the due diligence process, with the aim to conclude the takeover in December or January.

“Every year I say the same thing: I think this is the year in which I and my family can break away from the football world after 35 years,” noted Preziosi recently.

“It’s time to take a step back and leave it to others who have the opportunity to do better. Genoa has been on sale for three years. Football does nothing to cause me problems and give me heartache. It’s a passion, but that is waning, and I hope to pass this club on.”

Preziosi is also extremely unpopular with Genoa supporters, as for the second season in a row they have changed multiple coaches and avoided relegation from Serie A on the final day.
