“It was a bad defeat, losing at home in the last minute is a big blow,” Sticchi Damiani told reporters. “We have to get back up straight away, that’s what I and the group want.
“We all have to give our all, the club is ready to make an effort on the market to help us stay up.”
The Giallorossi are currently 17th in Serie A – one point above the relegation zone – and the current run of four league games without a win obviously worries Sticchi Diamanti.
“Right now, our position tells us that we can survive, and we will try our best,” he added. “The team is determined to get the job done.
“The team came up short. The coach has been working with a rather small group and every time we lose someone, especially in the midfield, we get in trouble.
“The changes are inadequate; we have to try to avoid it as a club.”
The President was not happy about the refereeing from the match official Antonio Giua, but claimed he was “not looking for an alibi”.
“We are sad that there are errors that could determine the result,” he said. “On Babacar’s goal, the contact is very light.
“There’s a foul on Farias when Udinese scored and a foul before that. There are episodes that has influenced the result, but we don’t have to look for an alibi.”
Lecce are now preparing for their next game against Parma at the Ennio Tardini on Monday.
