Former Cesena tactician Massimo Ficcadenti has been linked with the role, but it is being suggested that the ex-Roma player is also on the club's short-list.

Di Francesco, who won 12 caps for Italy, started his coaching career at Lanciano in the summer of 2008.

The 41-year-old led the then Third Division Pescara into Serie B and helped them finish 13th in the last campaign.
