Lecce tactician Eusebio Di Francesco is surprised by Marco Borriello’s lack of playing time at Roma this season.

The Italian international striker has been used for just 221 minutes of football in Serie A so far under new boss Luis Enrique.

“I don’t understand how a player like him is having such difficulty in finding space in the team,” Di Francesco, a former Giallorosso player, told Radio Mana Mana.

“Luis Enrique will certainly have his reasons even if I don’t know whether they are down to tactical decisions or anything else.

“As far as I’m concerned, he would always get a game in my team because his qualities can’t be put into doubt.

“I’d happily sign him if he was made available for transfer.”

Di Francesco takes his struggling Lecce side to the Stadio Olimpico this weekend to face the capital outfit.
