Lecce insist that boss Eusebio Di Francesco was not playing to save his job at Cesena on Sunday afternoon.
The Giallorossi won at the Stadio Manuzzi over the weekend – their first victory in eight top-flight games which relieved the pressure on their tactician.
“We met with the Coach during the week where we underlined our faith in him,” director general Carlo Osti noted.
“Di Francesco’s position was never under discussion.
“The win at Cesena was very important though, as it was a victory that refreshed us.
“Now we have two weeks to prepare ourselves for the game against Roma.”
Lecce are still in the relegation zone even if they did join Inter on eight points at the weekend after the Nerazzurri’s tie at Genoa was postponed.
The Week 12 tie at the Stadio Olimpico will be a special occasion for Di Francesco seeing as the former Italian international spent four years with Roma as a player.
