Rafael Leao has been one of the protagonists of Milan’s season as they fight for the Scudetto and his market value has soared as a result.
The 22-year-old Portuguese winger has scored eight goals and provided four assists in 27 Serie A appearances so far this campaign, being a dangerous and exciting forward who only briefly struggles with inconsistency. Considering his age, it’s clear that the Rossoneri have a true star on their hands.
Milan are preparing to extend Leao’s contract to 2026 soon, keeping him tied to the club for the foreseeable future. This will only further add to his market value, which has already doubled in only 12 months.
Transfermarkt suggests that Leao is worth around €50m, but the CIES Football Observatory feel that he’s worth a little more, raising the bar to €70m. A year ago he was only worth around €25m, a sign of his explosive growth under Stefano Pioli this season.
Now imagine if he can finish chances and be more consistent. Admittedly, his attitude might not get that much better (although he’s a little better now in that regard) and that is his biggest weakness (along with his decision making).
Next season I might have to change my name to Inter Fan. I cannot believe we might have to wait till 3000 before we can add number 19 to the collection.
Another overrated player came from inflation price

Like so many modern players, he’s a sunshine player. You’ll get the odd bit of magic, then goes missing.
Probably worth keeping because they’ll struggle to find anyone better, but if a huge offer came from an oil club, they’d be better off selling and getting a few from the likes of the likes of Botman, Renato Sanches, Berardi, Raspadori, Scamacca in.
Flashes of brilliance are not enough to make the difference on top level.
You need consistency, something that does not depend on the mood of that day.
