Rafael Leao is edging closer and closer to returning to action for Milan after carrying out part of today’s squad training session.

The Portuguese star suffered a hamstring injury in the 10th minute of the Rossoneri’s 2-2 draw with Lecce on November 11, keeping him sidelined for their matches with Fiorentina, Borussia Dortmund and Frosinone.

Leao has been pushing to return in time for Milan’s clash with Atalanta on the weekend, immediately starting on-pitch work after tests earlier this week confirmed that the lesion in his left thigh had healed.

As highlighted by Calciomercato.com, Leao carried out the first part of today’s squad training session at Milanello with Stefano Pioli and his teammates, taking another step forward in his recovery. He broke away later in the session to complete his personalised exercises.

Tomorrow will be the decisive day, as the Portuguese winger will try to carry out the entire session with the squad. Should he do so, he’d be included in the squad to face Atalanta on December 9.

Leao has struggled to show his best for Milan this season, scoring four goals and providing four assists in 1184 minutes across 16 games.
