Manuel Lazzari has claimed Lazio ‘deserve’ to finish the campaign and has vowed to ‘be ready when it’s possible’ to resume play.

Lazzari arrived from SPAL last summer and has played 29 games for the Biancocelesti, helping them to second in Serie A and a triumph in the Supercoppa Italiana with a 3-1 win against Juventus in December.

The Aquile were only one point behind the reigning champions when the season was suspended and Lazzari was quite happy with his own progress in the Italian capital, pointing out that Lazio’s ‘desire and enthusiasm’ played a big part in their success.

“I think I have already come a lot further. It was already a dream to sign for Lazio,” he told Lazio Style Channel. “Then to be able to win a trophy immediately against Juventus and fight for the Scudetto is incredible.

“We hope to finish the season, we deserve it. There’s a great desire and enthusiasm, out heads have never been detached from the championship.

“It’s normal that health is now a priority over football, but we will be ready when it’s possible to return to the pitch.”
