Stefan de Vrij has reportedly told Lazio that he wants to play Sunday’s Champions League decider against future employers Inter.
Fifty-eight percent of Football Italia readers felt De Vrij’s case of split loyalties were enough for Lazio not to pick him against Inter, having signed a pre-contract with the Nerazzurri.
However, Premium Sport reports a meeting took place between the Dutchman and the club’s ‘senators’ – namely Ciro Immobile, Marco Parolo, Lucas Leiva, Stefan Radu and Senad Lujic.
“You know what I’ve been through these last few days,” De Vrij is quoted as telling them.
“A lot’s been said, but I want to be near you all. I want to play because it’s too important a match for us and because I want us to end the season in the best way possible.”
It now remains to be seen whether Biancocelesti boss Simone Inzaghi goes back on his original stance of playing others.
