Lazio have no intention of selling defender Francesco Acerbi, despite the recent statement by the club’s ultras.

The 33-year-old Italian defender was attacked by the Lazio ultras yesterday, who released a statement telling him that he was no longer welcome in Rome after his recent behaviour; the initial issue stems from his ‘shhh’ celebration in the team’s 3-1 win over Genoa last week, which he later apologised for on social media. He was then accused of failing to thank the fans after the win over Venezia.

As reported by Corriere dello Sport, Lazio have no interest in selling Acerbi, despite the pressure from the ultras. President Claudio Lotito, who himself has a poor relationship with certain elements of the fan base, is not willing to let his decisions be conditioned by the ultras and so will not sell him as a result of this situation.

Acerbi is considered a core part of coach Maurizio Sarri’s squad, despite his issues adapting to the tactical system, and so he will remain a central part of the defence this season.

  1. Really unsure about this whole situation. One gesture in years of service and they want to disown an absolute rock of a player. I don’t particularly like Lazio fans at all so I may be biased but this just seems pathetic from them, there mustn’t be any Nazi rallies going on in the Lazio region and they need something to do.

  2. Italian government is full nazi. “show me your papers” rise up Italy and put an end to this covid bs!!

  3. I don’t think ‘this covid bs’ cares what papers one has and doesn’t… nor does it end by anyone rising up to a government…

Happy you’re not in charge, Dan, or we’d be looking like the united states! Lol.

  4. So sick of hearing about ultrasonic and their inflated position in soccer. You didn’t thank me…REALLY?????
On the upside anytime the Nazis are against you you are doing something right.
