Lazio are preparing to sell star midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic in the summer and Maurizio Sarri has asked for Napoli’s Piotr Zielinski to be brought in as the replacement.

The 28-year-old Serbian midfielder has been regularly linked with a move away from the Biancocelesti, quietly being one of the most impressive players in his position in Europe. Despite the links to various top clubs, a move has never materialised, but things are now about to change.

Milinkovic-Savic has just a year left on his contract with Lazio and wants to leave in the summer, preferring to be sold instead of leaving on a free transfer. His agent Mateja Kezman is working to find offers worth at least €40m.

Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com details how Sarri has highlighted Zielinski as his top option to replace Milinkovic-Savic at Lazio.

The Pole is open to the move, but two conditions must be met before a deal could be reached. The first is qualification to the Champions League, and the second is a definitive exit from Napoli.

Zielinski is still in talks with the Partenopei regarding a new contract, but there’s a significant gap between his requests and the club’s offer, so a departure in the summer cannot be ruled out.
