The Aquile are looking to bounce back from their first defeat of the season in these Lazio vs. Verona predictions. The visitors enjoyed a more positive previous weekend, securing their first win of the campaign.

Lazio vs. Verona odds

  1. Lazio to win – 5/8
  2. Ciro Immobile to score anytime – 1/1
  3. Lazio to score first – 1/2
  4. Both teams to score – 13/16
  5. Under 2.5 goals scored  – 9/8

Lazio take on Verona at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday afternoon hoping to get back to winning ways. The Aquile lost their first game of the season against an impressive Napoli side, but have had an otherwise strong start to their campaign.

For Verona, their first game of the season also saw a defeat at the hands of the Partenopei, with Gabriele Cioffi’s side slowing improving ever since. The Gialloblu got their reward in matchday five with a hard-fought win against Sampdoria at the Stadio Marcantonio Bentegodi.

Unfortunately for the visitors this weekend, this match against Lazio is likely to be one step too far at this point in the season. The Aquile are our tip to bounce back from last weekend’s result and secure all three points at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday.

Despite increasing adherence to the principles of manager Mauricio Sarri, the hosts’ fortunes remain strongly linked to the form of star striker Ciro Immobile. The Lazio captain failed to score in the defeat to Napoli, but has already notched one third of his team’s goals with five matches played. As a result, Immobile is unsurprisingly our tip to score anytime against Verona.

So far this season, Sarri’s side have been starting strongly, before dropping off as the 90 minutes progress. The Aquile have scored first in each of their last three games but have failed to protect the win in their last two. We recommend a bet on the hosts to score first on Sunday afternoon.

As a consequence of this inability to protect their lead, another smart bet would be on both teams to score at the Stadio Olimpico this weekend. The home side’s only clean sheets have come in Lazio’s two goalless draws, while Verona have failed to score in just one game so far this season.

Finally, fans could be in for a low-scoring match on Sunday. Gabriele Cioffi’s side are very comfortable out of possession and will be more than happy to sit deep in an attempt to stop their hosts from creating chances. In the opposite dugout, Sarri’s tactics tend to struggle against defensive teams, with a slow build-up failing to cut open low blocks. A bet on under 2.5 goals scored may therefore be a smart move.

Lazio team news

Maurizio Sarri has his full squad fit and available for this weekend’s fixture. The manager is unlikely to make too many changes, but may be tempted to hand a start to Pedro over Felipe Anderson in an attempt to play in front of the Verona defence.

Verona team news

Pawel Dawidowicz came off at half-time last weekend, with Koray Gunter replacing him at centre-back. As of yet it is unclear whether the defender will be fit to start on Sunday, with Roberto Piccoli also a doubt for the fixture.
