Napoli face a tough test of their title credentials when they head to Rome to play Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday. The Azzurri have recorded a pair of convincing victories over the Biancocelesti in the last two meetings between the clubs, but both of those were in Naples.
Lazio vs. Napoli odds
1 – Both teams to score – 3/4
2 – Over 3.5 goals – 12/5
3 – Napoli to win and BTTS – 15/4
4 – Napoli to win 3-1 – 20/1
5 – Osimhen to score first – 11/2
Napoli followed up last season’s 5-2 victory over Lazio at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona with an equally convincing 4-0 triumph in the first meeting between the clubs this term. However, Lazio were victorious on home soil last season, with each of the last seven matches between the teams ending in home wins.
Maurizio Sarri’s side certainly have the attacking tools to put a dent in Napoli’s Scudetto aspirations this weekend. Only defending champions Inter have scored more goals than the Biancocelesti so far this term, with the capital club netting 53 times in 26 Serie A fixtures.
Napoli, however, have the league’s best defence, conceding only 18 goals to Lazio’s 40. Luciano Spalletti will focus his efforts on keeping the home team off the scoresheet, in order to build a clear path to victory in this game.
The Partenopei enter this weekend’s encounter unbeaten in their last seven Serie A fixtures. They’ve won four of those, with two of their draws coming away to Juventus and at home to Inter. Two dropped points at Cagliari last time out were far more damaging to their title hopes.
Even so, rescuing a point late on through Victor Osimhen’s equaliser a few minutes from time was still something of a positive. Keeping their unbeaten run going this weekend against the sixth-placed Romans would be another positive for Napoli, who head into matchday 27 two points behind Serie A leaders Milan.
The last 10 league meetings between these clubs have produced a total of 37 goals, and another high-scoring affair wouldn’t be a surprise. Both teams to score and over 3.5 goals both look promising bets as part of our Lazio v Napoli predictions, while along with Ciro Immobile, Osimhen is one to watch in the first scorer market after his late intervention last time out.

Lazio team news
Sarri will only be missing one player when he takes his place in the home dugout this weekend, as long as there are no new issues after Thursday’s Europa League clash with Porto. Manuel Lazzari is set to be out of action until late March due to a hamstring problem, with the former Napoli coach having a clean bill of health apart from that.
Napoli team news
Spalletti must also juggle his squad following Thursday’s Europa League date with Barcelona, but the Azzurri boss has Lorenzo Insigne, Giovanni Di Lorenzo and Matteo Politano available again after injury. Kevin Malcuit, Hirving Lozano and Axel Tuanzebe are all out though, along with Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa and Stanislav Lobotka.
