Lazio confirm Boulaye Dia’s move from Salernitana will be decided ‘in the next 1-2 days,’ there is interest in Napoli’s Michael Folorunsho, while Wolves and Southampton target Christos Mandas is ‘not for sale.’

Director of sport Angelo Fabiani spoke to the media following a press conference for their new signings this afternoon and gave some important updates on their potential transfer dealings.

The biggest is Salernitana striker Dia, who was meant to be on the verge of a move to the Stadio Olimpico on loan with obligation to buy at the end of the season for €10m.

However, the move was on the risk of collapse due to his wage demands and the situation is still very much in the balance.

“Dia was completely off the market after yesterday’s game,” joked Fabiani, referring to the fact the centre-forward scored two goals and assisted another in the Coppa Italia tie with Spezia.

“We are working on it. There is a full agreement with Salernitana, we are still missing the details with his entourage. You need two to tango, although at times three or four as well.

“It will be decided, in or out, in the next 1-2 days.”

Folorunsho and Dia on Lazio radar

Lazio are also tracking Napoli midfielder Folorunsho, who had been all set for an Atalanta move until they pulled out due to injuries forcing them to use their resources elsewhere this summer.

He was in the Aquile youth academy and is a self-confessed supporter of the Biancocelesti.

“Folorunsho is an important player who I appreciate a great deal, but we need to stick to the logic of certain things, we can’t just dive in whenever a player represents an opportunity,” continued Fabiani.

“We are reflecting on it and the sheer numbers of the squad.”

They are whittling down the group at the disposal of coach Marco Baroni, with confirmation Mattia Cancellieri is heading towards Parma.

However, second choice goalkeeper Mandas is not going anywhere, despite links with Premier League clubs Wolverhampton Wanderers and Southampton.

“He is not for sale. We have proposals for players who arrived over the last year, but our decision as things stand is not to touch them. We need patience and support for the new lads, give them time to adapt.

“The team has two quality goalkeepers, we took Mandas off the market. I believe his future is at Lazio.”
