Inter coach Simone Inzaghi was indeed greeted warmly and with gratitude by Lazio fans on his first visit back to the Olimpico. ‘22 years with our colours cannot be forgotten. Thank you, Simone.’
The tactician stepped back into the Stadio Olimpico for the first time as an opponent after his career with the Biancocelesti as a striker first, then a coach, winning multiple trophies.
He left when his contract expired over the summer and preferred the ambition of the Inter project.
The ultras largely blamed President Claudio Lotito for the exit and Inzaghi, as promised, walked out before kick-off today to stand under the Curva Nord.
He waved and looked visibly moved as the fans held up a banner that read: ‘22 years with our colours cannot be forgotten. Thank you, Simone.’
They also chanted his name and at this moment, the club anthem played, with the eagle Olympia flying around the arena.
