Podolski, 26, is a versatile forward who can also ben used in a wide position when necessary.

The Polish-born German international is contracted to his present club until June 2013 and it is claimed that he has no intention of renewing that agreement.

Lazio could make a bid as soon as January in an effort to aid their efforts to qualify for the Champions League next season.

Klose moved to the Biancocelesti from Bayern Munich on a free transfer in the summer and he’s been an instant success at the Stadio Olimpico.
