Lazio have decided to enter a training retreat following their defeat to Udinese, desperate to turn things around as their poor form continues.

The Biancocelesti were plagued by all their usual demons in their Monday evening clash with the Friulian side, looking toothless in the final third as their opponents fiercely defended their 2-1 lead to secure a vital three points in their bid to avoid relegation.

It was Lazio’s 12th defeat of the Serie A season, form that leaves them ninth in the Serie A table after 28 games, 11 points behind fourth place Bologna. With only 10 games left to play, a top four finish looks all but impossible now for Maurizio Sarri’s side.

Corriere dello Sport details how Lazio president Claudio Lotito and sporting director Angelo Fabiani decided to take a hard line after the team’s defeat to Udinese, calling the squad into a training retreat at Formello in a bid to improve form for the final few months of the season.

Sarri’s side have only won two of their last seven Serie A matches and the fans are growing increasingly frustrated, booing and chanting against the squad following their defeat to Udinese. Assistant coach Giovanni Martusciello suggested afterward that the team were suffering from an ‘aura of negativity’.
