Daniele Longo suggests that Lazio will open talks with Napoli this week to negotiate a deal for midfielder Piotr Zielinski.

The 29-year-old Pole’s current contract expires with the Partenopei in 2024 and negotiations regarding a new deal have been going on for a few weeks now. Zielinski hoped his wages would rise from €3.8m net to €4.5m net per season, but Aurelio De Laurentiis was less keen on this idea.

The Napoli president proposed spreading this figure over several years, disappointing Zielinski and leading him to reflect on his future. Maurizio Sarri has already sounded out a possible move to Lazio with the midfielder, who would be happy to work with the Italian tactician once again.

Longo of Calciomercato.com details how Lazio president Claudio Lotito is considering offering around €20m for Zielinski and will contact De Laurentiis in the coming days to start discussing a possible deal.

The Lazio president wants to maintain a strong relationship with his Napoli counterpart and so isn’t looking to force through a deal.
