Lazio have received a suspended one-match ban on the Curva Nord for racist and anti-Semitic chants during the Derby della Capitale against Roma.

The Biancocelesti won the match on March 19 and surged into second place in the Serie A standings.

However, a section of their supporters were heard by the local authorities making insulting chants during the game, including those of a racist and anti-Semitic nature.

The Disciplinary Commission ordered a suspended sentence of a one-match ban only for the Curva Nord, which is where the ultras are located and the chants emanated from.

Although it is only suspended for a year, there was also a stern warning that any other violation during the next year will see them come down hard on Lazio and its supporters.

Any new violation will see both the suspended sentence activated and the extra punishment on top.

It is only a suspended sentence because Lazio helped co-operate with police to identify those responsible and made public statements trying to deter it happening again.
