Lazio and Italy striker Ciro Immobile has left hospital after two days of observation for whiplash and a fractured rib when his car collided with a tram.

The incident happened in Rome on Sunday, with Immobile driving his two daughters through the city streets.

Both the player and the tram driver insist they had been given the green light to go through, so an investigation is trying to work out what went wrong to cause this accident.

Immobile has been released from the Gemelli hospital in Rome, where he was diagnosed with whiplash and a compound fracture of the 11th rib.

According to Radio Radio, Immobile opted to remain on the hospital grounds for a few more hours even after he had been released, as his 10-year-old daughter Michela is still kept in for observation.

She suffered bruising to the liver and that is causing a few more concerns.

Her sister, eight-year-old Giorgia, was also in the car and has been sent home with a protective collar on her neck.
