Lazio have snapped up teenage talent Luka Romero for a minimal fee from Real Mallorca and he is due to undergo a medical tomorrow.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Sportitalia and others, the deal was already done and he has now organised his tests for Monday.

Romero is only 16 years old and is therefore available for a minimal fee, as he hasn’t yet been signed on to a professional contract.

Born in Mexico, but representing Argentina at Under-15 and Under-17 level, Romero made his Liga debut in June 2020, at the age of just 15 years and seven months.

That remains his only Primera Liga appearance, as he played six games in Liga 2, scoring one goal.

He is a trequartista, a creative midfielder who sits behind the strikers, and is expected to sign a contract with Lazio until June 2024.

This is quite a coup for the Biancocelesti, although at first Romero is likely to work with their youth team rather than Maurizio Sarri’s squad.
