Lazio suffered a shock 4-1 defeat to relegated Genoa, as Ciro Immobile’s goal was overshadowed by a hat-trick for new signing Massimo Coda.

Genoa will be in Serie B this season following their relegation and are ready to rebuild under coach Alexander Blessin.

There were promising signs for the Grifone and worrying ones for Maurizio Sarri, as Lazio were hammered 4-1 in their first pre-season defeat of the summer in their German training retreat.

Coda made a huge impression after his move from Lecce at a cost of €1.5m, bagging a hat-trick including an angled drive after Elseid Hysaj error, a simple tap-in and scorcher from the edge of the box.

Immobile had temporarily managed to equalise on a smart Sergej Milinkovic-Savic assist.

Albert Gudmundsson completed the 4-1 rout for Genoa from the penalty spot following the Kamenovic handling offence.

Lazio have left Francesco Acerbi and Jean-Daniel Akpa Akpro out of this tour of Germany, as both are on the transfer market.

Lazio: Maximiano; Lazzari, Casale, Romagnoli, Hysaj; Milinkovic-Savic, Cataldi, Basic; Felipe Anderson, Immobile, Zaccagni
