Lazio have scheduled a meeting with Sergej Milinkovic-Savic’s agent Mateja Kezman as they work to agree a new contract with the Newcastle United target.

The 27-year-old Serbian star has continued playing a leading role in Maurizio Sarri’s squad this season, scoring four goals and providing eight assists across 19 Serie A outings.

With only 18 months left on his current deal with Lazio, a move away from Rome is starting to look increasingly likely for Milinkovic-Savic, who has been wanted by top clubs around Europe for years.

As reported by Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com, Lazio sporting director Igli Tare will meet with Milinkovic-Savic’s agent Kezman at the end of February to try and iron out an agreement.

The 27-year-old has already promised the club that he has no intention of leaving on a free transfer but it may be difficult for the Biancocelesti to cash in on the player in the summer, when he’ll only have 12 months left on his contract.

This makes the upcoming meeting between Lazio and Kezman crucial for the team. Juventus’ interest in Milinkovic-Savic has started to cool off as a result of their off-pitch issues but Newcastle United are still serious about the Serbian and have spoken to his agent multiple times.
