Maurizio Sarri had dinner with Lazio President Claudio Lotito and Igli Tare yesterday and according to several reports in Italy, the two parties are close to reaching an agreement.

The former Juventus and Napoli coach travelled to the Italian capital last night to discuss the terms of his contract with the Biancocelesti and the club’s transfer strategies for the summer.

According to Il Corriere dello Sport, they had dinner in a restaurant close to Formello.

The coach is free to reach an agreement with any club as Juventus paid a penalty to terminate his contract one year before its expiration.

The Old Lady had sacked the former Chelsea coach after his first season at the club.

Several Italian outlets, including Sportmediaset and Il Corriere dello Sport, described the meeting as a ‘positive’ one.

As per Sportmediaset, Sarri’s agent Fali Ramadani will meet Lazio on Friday, which is proof talks are going in the right direction.

Lazio are on the market for a new coach after Simone Inzaghi decided to leave the Olimpico after a turbulent season with the Aquile, who finished sixth in Serie A.

Inzaghi has reached an agreement with Inter, who parted ways with Antonio Conte in May by mutual consent, whilst Juventus have sacked Andrea Pirlo after only one season in charge and re-appointed Max Allegri at the Allianz Stadium.
