The Prosecutor’s Office has opened an investigation into Lazio and a possibly violation of the health protocol in place during the coronavirus pandemic.
The cases reportedly involve Ciro Immobile, Lucas Leiva and Thomas Strakosha, who were reportedly stopped from travelling to Russia by the UEFA, and were unavailable for the match in Bruges last week too. But negative swab tests had allowed the three to play in the 4-3 win over Torino in Serie A, when Immobile scored a decisive goal towards the end.
The newspaper reveals the Prosecutor’s Office interviewed President Claudio Lotito and club medic Ivo Pulcini, before acquiring the reports of the swab tests carried out before Bruges-Lazio and Torino-Lazio.
The swab reports from yesterday have also been handed over to the FIGC, according to the report.
La Gazzetta dello Sport claims ‘the penalties referred to in article eight are applied to the responsible club, depending on its gravity, and range from fines, penalties, relegation to last place and even exclusion from the championship’.
The seriousness of the violation is assessed according to the health risk for players, staff, referees and all professionals exposed to the infection from COVID-19, as well as the ‘ascertained intention to alter the course or the result of a match of competition’.
