Lazio are seeking a midfielder and will reportedly ask Juventus for Nicolò Rovella after failing to intercept Leicester City’s deal for Chelsea talent Cesare Casadei.

The Biancocelesti are trying to bolster their squad after qualifying for the Champions League and selling Sergej Milinkovic-Savic to Al-Hilal.

According to Sportitalia, Maurizio Sarri’s side had approached Chelsea to ask for Italy Under-21 international Casadei on loan, but it was too late to stop the agreement that was already in place with Leicester City.

The same source maintains their next target will be Rovella, who returned to base at Juventus after a loan spell with Monza.

The 21-year-old has been linked with another temporary switch to Monza, Salernitana or Genoa, but Lazio would allow him to play in the Champions League.

Meanwhile, Lazio have struck a deal with Juventus to sign full-back Luca Pellegrini on a two-year loan with obligation to buy in the summer of 2025.

More details are emerging on that agreement, as Lazio should pay €4-5m for the loan, while Juventus cover at least 50 per cent of his salary during those two seasons.
