Claudio Lotito refuted the rumour that he’d agreed to sell Sergej Milinkovic-Savic to Juventus in January and suggested that the Lazio star’s value is still rising.

The 27-year-old Serbian midfielder is continuing to shine in Serie A this season under Maurizio Sarri, further proving himself to be one of the best midfielders in the world. In the first nine league games of the campaign, Milinkovic-Savic has scored three goals and provided seven assists, linking up gracefully with talismanic striker Ciro Immobile.

Speaking to Il Messaggero, Lotito first responded to the rumours that Juventus were preparing a move for Milinkovic-Savic in January.

“I have no agreement with his agent Kezman to sell him to Juventus or anyone else in the winter. On the contrary, he is now worth €120m, not €100m. Every month the price goes up.”

The Lazio president then praised Sarri and his developing project in Rome.

“Beyond the great 4-0 victory on Monday night in Florence, I am satisfied with the spirit I saw again. As I have already said, if we continue with this attitude we will not set ourselves limits and we can go far.

“I chose Sarri because he is a great teacher of football, but also because of his human aspect.”

The 27-year-old Milinkovic-Savic was on fire for Lazio last season, instantly adapting to Sarri’s new system in the Italian capital. The midfielder scored 11 goals and provided 11 assists across 37 Serie A games, and was heavily linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.

  1. Lotito is very smart. He is trying to lure in the 7/9 into making a crazy offer. Not at that figure as the bush leaguers do not have that sort of money, but something crazy nonetheless. Then hand him off to PhD Maccabi Max Saint Haifa and then the mountain goat calcio fiesta begins.
