More bad news for Lazio from international duty, as Adam Marusic has contracted COVID while representing Montenegro.

The announcement was made by the Montenegro football federation today, as they prepare for the World Cup qualifying campaign.

Stevan Jovetic had also tested positive and now the Coronavirus has spread to Marusic and teammate Neboja Kosovic as well.

A statement noted both players were tested after suffering from ‘mild symptoms’ of COVID-19 and the presence of the virus was established.

Montenegro are due to play the Netherlands this evening and then Turkey.

It is another blow for the Biancocelesti, who already saw Ciro Immobile leave the Italy camp early with a calf injury.

Marusic just turned 29 and has been playing as a right-back for Lazio so far this season in Maurizio Sarri’s 4-3-3 formation, making 14 competitive appearances between Serie A and the Europa League.

He has 43 senior caps for Montenegro, scoring two goals.
