Francesco Acerbi could be the next Lazio player to reunite with Simone Inzaghi at Inter, as it’s reported the defender will be sold due to tension with the ultras.

The fans turned on Acerbi after he made a ‘shh’ gesture towards the Curva Nord in the Stadio Olimpico when scoring a goal.

He later apologised and insisted he was not specifically targeting the ultras, but they have refused to forgive him, demanding he leave the club as soon as possible.

According to the Corriere dello Sport, his most likely destination would be Inter, reuniting with former Biancocelesti coach Inzaghi.

He’d be the latest ex-Lazio player to make the move to San Siro after Joaquin Correa, Stefan de Vrij and Felipe Caciedo.

Acerbi would be seen as a potential heir to De Vrij, who is under contract until June 2023.

The Italy international turned 34 last month and has been at Lazio since 2018, having previously played at San Siro for Milan over six months from July 2012 to January 2013.
