Lazio offer Milinkovic-Savic different contract terms

Lazio have reportedly made a different contract proposal to Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, hoping to push back on Arsenal, PSG, Juventus, Chelsea and Manchester United with a release clause.

The Serbia international is only tied to the Aquile until June 2024 and negotiations over his new deal have been dragging on for months.

It is widely reported that Champions League qualification could be decisive for his future, as failure to finish in the Serie A top four makes it more likely he will walk away.

Even that might not be enough, so La Gazzetta dello Sport suggest Lazio have made a different proposal to agent Mateja Kezman, hoping to keep everyone happy.

It would be only a two-year extension with an increased salary from the current €3.2m net per season to €4m.

The big change is that it would include a release clause, therefore allowing Milinkovic-Savic to leave if the correct offer came in.

Sometimes these contracts are limited to ensure only clubs outside of Italy can activate the clause, which would cut out Juventus from the running.

There is no shortage of sides interested in Milinkovic-Savic, including Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.

Lazio had wanted at least €100m for the Serbian and President Claudio Lotito claims he turned down well over that in the past, but if his contract was to run down, it would lower that significantly to just €40m.
