Lazio midfielder Danilo Cataldi hit back at José Mourinho after the Roma boss had accused Pedro of diving but wrongly said his teammate has won more trophies than the Special One.

Mourinho criticised Pedro after a 0-0 draw in the derby della Capitale on Sunday, saying: “He is a fantastic player, but he could also be a swimmer because the way he dives in the pool is fantastic.”

Pedro’s teammate Cataldi replied to the Special One during a post-match press conference but got something wrong: “He [Mourinho] always speaks about titles, but I think Pedro has won more than him,” said the Biancocelesti midfielder.

However, as highlighted by Il Corriere dello Sport, Mourinho has won one title more than the Spanish winger in his career.

Pedro has lifted 25 trophies against Mourinho’s 26. The last title won by the Special One was the Conference League in 2022, when Roma beat Feyenoord thanks to a goal from Nicolò Zaniolo.

Mourinho also said after the game that he gets along with Lazio coach Maurizio Sarri but was critical of the referee.

Roma sit seventh in the Serie A table with 18 points in 12 matches, one more than their city rivals currently in 10th position.
