Lazio have reportedly made an offer to sign Milan defender Alessio Romagnoli as a free agent at the end of the season and have set their sights on Napoli‘s David Ospina who is also a target of Real Madrid.

Romagnoli sees his Milan contract expire at the end of the season, but talks to extend his stay at the club have led nowhere so far.

The 27-year-old is on a €5.5m-a-year deal at San Siro, but club director Paolo Maldini will offer him a pay cut. According to Calciomercato.com, Milan won’t offer more than €2.5m-a-year to their captain, while Lazio have put a new €3m-a-year contract on the table.

Romagnoli is a product of Roma academy but is a Lazio fan and a picture of him wearing the Biancocelesti shirt has circulated on social media over the last few years.

Lazio have also targeted Napoli’s David Ospina, who can already sign a pre-contract agreement ahead of a free move in the summer.

Pepe Reina has slipped down in Maurizio Sarri’s pecking order this season, with Thomas Strakosha becoming the regular starter at the Stadio Olimpico. The Tuscan tactician is looking for an alternative in the market and Igli Tare has already begun preliminary talks with Ospina’s entourage but is aware of Real Madrid’s interest.

Carlo Ancelotti coached Ospina and Napoli and wants to reunite with the Colombia to make him become Madrid’s second-choice goalkeeper in 2022-23.

  1. I just want to know who in their right mind offered him 5.5m in the first place. I guess it was Fas*one and Mirabelli. God, the damage those two Interisti idiots done to Milan

I mean, literally nothing they did worked for Milan. Look at the players they brought in, Conti, Hakan, Kessie. All tragic stories. Look at the contracts they renewed, Dollarumma and Romagnoli (if I’m guessing right and they were the ones to do it and not Leonardo)

  2. Milan Fan, you hit the nail on the head. Regardless of the ultimate quality of these players, the contracts they were offered were to high in the first instance, perhaps maybe with the exception of Donnarumma, who was playing the same game then as he did when his contract ended last summer (so not much they could have done then other than also lose him on a free). This is why the player in that group with expiring contracts were ultimately not renewed. Their salaries were inflated to begin with.
